New Delhi: The Ministry of Finance has “summoned” Infosys MD & CEO Salil Parekh to explain to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman why glitches on the Income Tax portal has not been resolved even after over two months of its launch. Taking note of the fact that since August 21, the portal “is not available”, the Infosys top executive would be asked to explain why multiple glitches continue to mar its smooth functioning.

Issue in detail
Infosys had designed the new portal, which was found to have several technical issues after it started service on June 7. Users flagged the issues, often tweeting screenshots of the site and tagging the finance minister. The trouble areas included even simple tasks like profile updation or change of passwords. Many users also said the portal was extremely slow and logging in took considerable time. So far, Nandan Nilekani, the non-executive chairman of Infosys, has been reporting to the Finance Minister on a weekly basis.
