Conducts extensive field tour; Visits DH Bandipora, Patushay Grid, Market areas
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmad on Tuesday visited several areas of the district to inspect the snow clearance operation and the status of delivery of essential services.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Bashir Ahmad, Tehsildar Bandipora, Mubashir Saleem Nazki and Chairman Municipal Council Bandipora Basharat Ahmad and other senior officers of the district.
The DDC visited several areas of the district and inspected the snow clearance operations besides reviewing the power supply scenario and restoration process of different feeders and healthcare services available at District Hospital Bandipora.
The Deputy Commissioner visited District Hospital Bandipora to inspect Healthcare facilities being provided to the patients. At the hospital, he interacted with the patients to get the feedback and also interacted with the doctors. He urged the doctors to ensure better healthcare facilities to the patients and better heating arrangements in wards. He also directed to install ACs in wards and other rooms wherever required to ensure better heating arrangement.
Dr. Owais also visited Main Market Bandipora to inspect the snow clearance operation. He interacted with the locals and shopkeepers and directed the Municipal authorities to ensure immediate and prioritized clearance of snow from foot paths, internal lanes and by-lanes.
The Deputy Commissioner visited Patushai Grid station to inspect the restoration process of different feeders. It was given out that 27 feeders have been restored on Tuesday while efforts are on to restore the remaining 16 feeders. Officers informed that the field staff is in the field despite continuous snowfall to restore the power supply. He also directed the officers to ensure power supply is restored at earliest in every part of the district.
He also reviewed the availability of essential commodities. He was informed that there is a sufficient stock of essential commodities available in the district including LPG, ration, Vegetables and other essentials. Officers informed there is a stock of 22656 quintals of rice, 2150 LPG cylinders, 87200 litres of Diesel and 65600 litres of petrol available in the district Godowns.
DDC directed to conduct regular market checking to check the arbitrary rise in prices and illegal stocking.
Enroute the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the people to get a firsthand account of the problems being faced by them. He said that 20 snow clearance machines have been deployed in the district to clear roads which include nine machines of Mechanical Division, Three machines of R&B department and four machines of Municipal Committees of Sumbal, Hajin and Bandipora. He said the machines are continuously clearing the roads as the snowfall continued till Tuesday afternoon. He said control rooms have been established at District and Sub-Divisional level for better coordination between line departments and to ensure prompt snow clearance and provision of other essential services.
DDC lauded the efforts of the field staff in clearing the roads quickly besides restoring water supply and electricity. He said that the restoration of electricity supply to the district hospital, sub-district hospitals, PHCs and other health institutions was made on priority.
