Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Friday chaired a meeting of the amalgam’s Majlis Shoora (Executive Council) at his Hyderpora residence here.
In a statement here a spokesman of the conglomerate said that the meeting discussed the current political situation.
In his presidential address, Geelani said, “None of the basic three parties to this dispute India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir are in a position to avoid any untoward consequences of this visible danger in South Asia. The New Delhi has to change its approach vis-à-vis Kashmir.”
He urged the people to remain vigilant, steadfast and well disciplined to “take the sacred mission to its logical conclusion.”
Rejecting out rightly the vicious campaign and propaganda against the religion of Islam at international level, Geelani said, “Islam teaches justice and equality, stand by the truth and righteousness and fight against the evil and barbarism. The kindest system of life has nothing to do with terrorism and extremism,” he added.
Urging people of Kashmir, particularly the youth, to follow the teachings of Islam in letter and spirit, Hurriyat (G) chairman asserted that “we have offered exemplary sacrifices for the last seven decades which as a nation cannot ignore or allow any sell out for petty political gains.”
He said that Kashmir conflict can only be resolved through a meaningful dialogue. “Time and again we have agreed upon a formula and the people of Kashmir, but unfortunately, the New Delhi’s stubbornness has remained a stumbling block to go ahead in this direction,” Geelani added.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the constituent parties of amalgam or their representatives, including Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Bilal Sidiqui, Shaheen Iqbal, Muhammad Maqbool Magami, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Shahid Saleem, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Syed Muhammad Shafi, Arshad Aziz, Khawaja Firdous Wani, Syed bashir Ahmad Indrabi, Yasmeen Raja, Zamrooda Habib, Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo, Muhammad Yaseen Aataie and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, the spokesman added.
