President of Self help group of Engineers Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Syed Parveez Hussain said that Government has launched Self Help Group scheme in the year 2003 for unemployed engineers and proper guidelines were issued in the year 2017. But a few days back GAD department issued an order to abolish this scheme which is grave injustice with us.
“We have also approached the concerned official regarding this issue, why this scheme has been abolished. We are unemployed engineers who were working under this scheme and were also earning their livelihood from it,” he said.
“The government should think about the families of those engineers who were earning their livelihood from this scheme,” said Hussain. The protesting engineers demanded the immediate rollback of Government order NO. 752-JK (GAD) of 2020 Clause – 2(b) dated 10th August this month. They also requested LG to take necessary steps for the revoke of the order.
So, they can continue their work under this scheme and can feed up their families.
Scores of them were arrested after police foiled their protest.
