Almost ten years before work has started on Akhal kangan bridge but bridge is yet not completed.Work on this bridge yet in initial stage, it is built on Nallah Sindh.
The foundation stone was laid in 2010 on 82-meter long span trussed bridge at the cost of 8.96 crore, but only a pillar was raised after which the work on this bridge was stopped in the mid way. And last year construction of this bridge was resumed after years and when suddenly the contractor started take away the construction materials from site of bridge.
The residents of Akhal and it’s adjacent villages in ganderbal district take up arms against authorities for not completeing the construction of Akhal kangan bridge on Nallah Sindh from past ten years.
Ziya rather a resident of Akhal while talking with we don’t have any facility during emergency like fire brigade ambulance as the Bailey bridge is very narrow on Mallah Sindh , these facilities can facilitate if the construction on this bridge will complete as soon as possible and
Another local said that contractors doing pick and choose method for constructing bridge from past ten years.
Residents requested LG Administration to take a look on this matter as they have suffered very Much from last 10 years and
Residents of Akhal and it’s adjacent villages appeals the DC Ganderbal and SDM Kangan to contact with Construction Agency and solve the issue on priority.
It is pertinent to mention that the bridge connects dozens of areas having population of thousands with sub-division Kangan._
