SRINAGAR, DEC 22 : Two militants surrendered before security forces after a brief encounter in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on the wee hours of Tuesday.
“During encounter between (militants) and Police/SFs at Tongdounu Kulgam, 02 local militants of LeT surrendered on appeal of families,” police said. “Incriminating materials including two pistols & ammunition were recovered.”
An official said that after the initial exchange of fire, the militants belonging to Lashker-e-Toiba surrendered after they were offered to lay down the arms.
Twelve militants have surrendered during live action this year, highest so far in Valley in recent years.
