People Having a Sigh of Relief
People are feeling relieved as the day and night temperatures in the Kashmir Valley have gradually improved.
According to a spokesperson of the Meteorological Department, the weather in Kashmir Valley is likely to remain dry for the next one week. He said that further improvement in temperature is expected in the coming days in the valley.
The harshest days of winter Kashmir that is Chillai-Kalan has already passed away, the forty-day winter period which commenced on 21 December and ended on 31 January. The period is considered the harshest of the winter when the chances of snowfall are most frequent and maximum.
The cold wave, however, continues even after that in Kashmir with a twenty-day-long ‘Chillai-Khurd‘ (small cold) and a ten-day-long ‘Chillai-Bachha‘ (baby cold). But the weather is continuously improving above freezing point and the general public is having a sigh of relief.
